Woman and her dog attacked by two dogs in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A 53-year old woman and her dog were attacked by two pit bulls in Pawtucket Friday.
The woman suffered several non-life-threatening injuries but her dog was killed from the attack, according to police.
The incident happened around noon at the intersection of Hick and Abbot Street right near both Cunningham Elementary and Slater Middle School.
The woman said the two pit bulls charged at her while she was walking her dog. She immediately picked up her dog in an attempt to protect it which is when the pit bulls began their attack on both her and her dog, police say.
The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The two loose pit bulls were located and seized by Animal Control.
Police located the owner of the dogs and the investigation is still ongoing.
