Woman arrested following crash into North Smithfield Town Hall

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – After police attempted to pull over a woman for erratic driving, a pursuit ensued, and ended with a crash into Town Hall.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday night, police reported to Victory Highway to investigate.

Once the car took off from police, after they attempted to pull the vehicle over, they continued down North Main Street to soon after find the car crashed into the Town Hall. 

The driver has been identified as Stephanie Plante, 32, of Johnston. One other passenger was in the car at the time but has not been identified.

Plante was transported to Landmark Medical Center for evaluation, then brought to police once released.

Plante is facing charges that include three counts of Possession of Narcotics, Driving Under the Influence, Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of Marijuana and Driving with a Suspended License – 3rd Offense.

She is expected to be arraigned in Kent County District Court at some point on Thursday.
