PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Portsmouth Police Department said a woman was arrested on Jan. 24 for allegedly driving under the influence with a 2-year-old in her car.

24-year-old Dara Dupre, of Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and DUI with a child under 13-years-old as a passenger.

Police said they pulled over Dupre around 7:30 p.m. after seeing her driving at a high rate of speed.

She allegedly “exhibited multiple signs of alcohol impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol on her breath,” and was arrested for suspected DUI.

Officers alleged that she later failed a breathalyzer test.

The 2-year-old child was found in a safety seat in the back seat of the car.

Dupre is expected in court on Jan. 30.
