Woman fatally struck by car on Orms St.

An elderly woman hit by a car while crossing Orms Street in Providence Thursday night has died.

Authorities say just before 7 p.m., a 76-year-old woman, identified as Marie Exilas was struck by a car on Orms Street, right outside ABC6 Studios, in Providence Thursday afternoon.

She was crossing the street near the Marriott hotel when she was struck.

The street was blocked off for nearly 2 hours.

Police say she was not in a crosswalk and that Exilas hit the hood of the car and went airborne before landing in the street. 

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Joseph Oldham, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

There have been no charges filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
