Woman injured in road rage incident in Stoughton, driver arrested

STOUGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A driver was arrested for allegedly damaging a car during a road rage incident in Stoughton.

The other driver in the car was injured in the incident.

According to officials, 44-year-old Erin McElroy of West Bridgewater was arrested yesterday and charged with malicious damage to property, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and disturbing the peace.

Police were called at approximately 3:45 p.m. to 218 Canton St. for a report of a two-car crash with a vehicle into a building.

Officers arrived in the area to discover that a vehicle driven by McElroy had allegedly rear-ended another vehicle, and pushed that vehicle into a building at 218 Canton St.

The preliminary investigation indicated that after crashing into the vehicle, McElroy had allegedly exited her vehicle and struck the other vehicle involved with a metal pipe.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the building suffered injuries that appeared to be serious, and was transported to the hospital.

McElroy was also taken to the hospital for an evaluation and was booked.

She will be arraigned today, and further charges may be added.

The incident is under investigation.
