Police arrest 33-year-old Melissa Sue Anne Castle, Tuesday after she confesses to killing her partner inside their Middletown apartment.
"Officers asked Ms.castle what had happened, she responded I chocked her, she’s dead," says Lieutenant Richard Gamache of the Middletown Police, in Court.
Castle was arrested and arraigned on one count of domestic murder.
Police say they got a call from a family member of castle, who said she’d just contacted them and admitted to killing 36–year–old Rachael Kilroy.
When police arrived they found Kilroy dead inside this apartment on Judith Ave, it appears she was strangled to death. This is the second murder as a result of domestic violence just this week in Rhode Island.
"Far too often we answer calls for domestic violence, and this is the tragic outcome of one that has gotten out of hand," says Middletown Police Chief Anthony Pesare.
Neighbors we spoke with say Kilroy worked as a landscaper, and that she was polite and mostly kept to herself.
"She was like a really good lady, she was just getting her life together and stuff, you know what I mean. So it was just kind of unfortunate this had to happen," says friend of next door neighbors, Taiwo Adebimpe.
"It’s a little um, surprising. I would never ever i would never ever imagine something like this happening here," Says neighbor Monica Stevenson.
Castle is being held without bail.
