Woman missing for a week found alive, stuck in mud in Easton park

EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Stoughton police said Monday that a woman who was reported missing for a week was found safely in a Massachusetts state park.

According to police, 31-year-old Emma Tetewski was located alive in Borderland State Park in Easton. She was found stuck in mud by hikers who heard her screaming for help in a swamp-like area.

Officials said the hikers could not get Tetewski out of the mud so they called Easton police for help.

When officers arrived, they said they waded 50 feet into the swamp-like area through thick brush and found Tetewski. They said she was there for at least three days and could not get out.

Easton firefighters needed ATVs for the rescue mission, on which they brought her to an ambulance where she was taken to an Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with serious, but not believed to be, life-threatening injuries.

“There were so many agencies involved in the search for Emma over the last week. We thank everyone involved,” Stoughton police said in a release.

“The public never gave up hope that she would be located safely. She could not have been located without the public’s help,” they said.
