Woman struck by vehicle on Route 146 in North Smithfield

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A woman was seriously hurt after she was struck by a vehicle in North Smithfield on Monday night.

Rhode Island State police said the woman, whose name was not released, was hit while crossing Route 146 south at Sayles Hill Road at about 7 p.m.

She was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved was cooperative on scene. Police said they were not charged.

The incident caused Route 146 south to temporarily close.
