Woman suffers burns after house fire in Attleboro
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Fire Department said that a woman in her 40s suffered “severe burns” after a house fire Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to a duplex on Mendon Road around 9 a.m. where two police officers had entered the burning building to rescue two residents trapped inside.
The department said the two officers and a male resident were treated for smoke inhalation and transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, while the woman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with critical injuries.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to one half of the duplex while the other side remained undamaged.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
