Fire crews in Woonsocket battled a six alarm fire overnight.
Flames erupted through a triple decker apartment building on Park Avenue around 10 p.m. Sunday.
Witnesses told ABC6 that a neighbor began banging on the door of the first floor apartment notifying residents of the situation.
At least three people were in the building at the time.
Neighbors say everything happened really fast.
“All of a sudden, we heard a bunch of yelling and a lot of banging on the doors. Neighbors were banging on their doors, and we came outside, saw a bunch of smoke coming out of the roof, saw it was on fire and then about ten minutes after that, it just kind of lit up really fast. So we grabbed our cats and dog and we just got out of the house,” said James Muise.
Mutual aid was called in from several surrounding cities and towns to assist Woonsocket.
The cause of the fire still remains under investigation.
