WOONSOCKET, R.I. — A fire that billowed through the top floor of a house in Pawtucket left two families without a home on Easter.
The fire started around 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Mailloux Street.
Fire officials tell ABC6 News that the heavy wind fanned the flames, but crews were able to knock down the fire quickly and contain it.
However, neighbors tell ABC6 it was a frightening experience.
“They brought the crane in. They were on the roof trying to open it up with chainsaws and stuff. So the kids were just worried for the people, we all were.”
Two firefighters were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating how the fire started.
