Woonsocket man among two arrested in Franklin, MA drug bust

FRANKLIN, Mass. (WLNE)– A Woonsocket man was among two arrested after a drug bust at a Franklin home Friday, police said in a statement today.

One of the men, Alan Pennington of Franklin, attempted to escape police as they executed a search warrant at his Brookview Road home.

The Franklin Police Department said Pennington drove into police vehicles and knocked over mailboxes before colliding into another parked car. Pennington allegedly swung at police officers before they manged to take him into custody.

Pennington now faces charges including Possession with Intent to Deliver a class A substance, assault on a police officer, a several motor vehicle offenses.

Franklin police, working alongside Boston and Massachusetts State Police, Homeland Security and the Milton Police Department, spent months building a case, according to the statement.

The search warrant yielded a number of pills believed to be fentanyl, with a street value of $15,000, along with $100,000 in cash.

Police also discovered Shane Clinton of Woonsocket, Rhode Island at the scene. Clinton has been charged with conspiracy and unlicensed operation.

Both men were taken to Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham and will be arraigned by the Wrentham District Court.
