Woonsocket Police charge man with carrying firearm without permit

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Police Department said that a man was arrested after a motor vehicle stop for allegedly carrying a firearm without a permit.

44-year-old Roberto Zayas Garcia was charged with license or permit required for carrying pistol and large capacity feeding device prohibited.

Police said that Garcia was stopped for a motor vehicle infraction on Nov. 23 when he told an officer he had a firearm and magazine in the car.

Police alleged that a search found a gun and 16 round magazine loaded with six hollow point bullets.

Police also said they found $10,441 in small bills but no evidence of narcotics, and Garcia had told them he owned a bar.
