Woonsocket stabbing suspect charged with felony assault, granted bail

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Woonsocket stabbing suspect appeared in Providence District Court Tuesday and was granted bail.

Jabriel Goodwin, 32, of Arizona was charged with numerous counts including felony assault for allegedly stabbing a man and leading police on a chase that ended in a rollover crash.

Goodwin was granted $5,000 bail and signed a waiver of extradition.

Goodwin was issued a no contact order with the victim.

He is scheduled to appear again in court on March 28, 2024.

The stabbing incident occurred Friday in the Ocean State Job Lot parking lot on Park Avenue where 25-year-old Bryan Bailey of Mansfield, Mass. suffered stab wounds to his arm and leg.

Police responded to the scene at 2:45 p.m. to find he suspect’s vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot.

This led to the chase through Woonsocket and North Smithfield, ending with the Ballou Street rollover crash.

The suspect reportedly went through a stop sign at the Ballou and Providence Street intersection and was struck by a car with two females in it.

The two women were treated and released from Hasbro Hospital with only one sustaining minor injuries.
