Woonsocket woman flees Police, charged with DUI

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – A Woonsocket woman was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges after fleeing from North Smithfield Police officers.
Police responded to reports of a vehicle stopped in the road on Eddie Dowling Highway, in the area of Hanton Road.
Officers on scene observed a vehicle stopped on the road with a female driver apparently asleep behind the wheel.
When an officer knocked on the window to get her attention, the driver, identified as 25-year-old Ariana Espinal, immediately fled in her vehicle.
Espinal was taken into custody after backing her vehicle into a Police cruiser after being boxed in by officers in a nearby parking lot.
Espinal was arraigned Tuesday morning in Third Division District Court on the following charges:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test
- Reckless Driving/Eluding
- Obstructing an Officer
- Resisting Arrest
- Felony Assault
- Disorderly Conduct
