Work on Newport Pell Bridge continues
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — Road work on the Newport Pell Bridge will continue, as the Rhode Island Department of Transportation is scheduled to mill and pave.
In a project update, RIDOT said shared that starting Sunday night, they are scheduled to mill then pave several roadway segments within this project that include; Route 138 East up to Admiral Kalbfus Road, Admiral Kalbfus Road, including the roundabout and JT Connell Highway toward Van Zandt and America’s Cup avenues, and Route 138 West back toward the Pell Bridge.
They said motorists can anticipate alternating lane closures for these operations from Sunday to Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday morning, May 24.
Other operations next week at this project will include daytime maintenance of drainage swales and installation of loam and seed sitewide.
Additionally, RIDOT said they will be working on the newly installed traffic cabinets and lighting signals, with minimal traffic impacts anticipated.
