WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Red Sox nation was out early Monday morning, some even lining up outside of sporting goods stores well before 5:00 AM, to get their hands on 2018 World Series Champions merchandise.

“History is made — the shirt says it all,” said Jimmy Lyons, a Red Sox fan from Cranston.

“I knew I was going to come early,” said Courtney Hamel, who lined up before 6:00 AM.  “I have work at 7:00, I’m running on 3 hours of sleep but totally ready!”

Dick’s Sporting Goods in Warwick and in Seekonk opened late Sunday night after the game, and then again early Monday at 6:00 AM.

“I’m out here because we are the champions, baby! I’m getting my merchandise so I can be ready for the parade on Wednesday,” explained Hamel.

“They do not have my hat until later on today, so I’ll be back to get my hat,” said Wayne Garland, who was also outside waiting before stores opened their doors.

Terri Hayes, a Red Sox fan from Newport, drove in to Warwick before 5:00 AM Monday, so she could be the first person in line — a tradition she’s done every time the Red Sox have won since 2004.

“I watched them for 55 years while they were awful, and I’m enjoying these last 14 years,” said Hayes.

Hayes isn’t the only one enjoying the victory.

“It feels great,” said Jimmy Lyons. “It’s a national holiday in Massachusetts for sure. A lot of kids will be missing school today!”

“Damage done, history made, 4-1, it was awesome,” said Anne-Marie Dion, a life-long Red Sox fan. “David Price stepped up to the plate – they all did! It was amazing!”

And while most fans will be celebrating this years victory for a while longer, others are already looking ahead to next season

“I think with the team we have now, they’ll go back–to–back,” said Wayne Garland.

Aside from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lids hat stores were also open early Monday morning, with World Series memorabilia on sale.
