CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Wounded Warriors Amputee softball team kicked off their weekend tournament Friday night.
The team plays against all teams. The celebrity all-star team included some former MLB players.
The Wounded Warriors lost by a run during Friday night’s game, but ABC6 News has been told that they win 70% of the games they play while traveling across the country.
ABC6 News Anchor Christina Myers asked Army Veteran Greg Reynolds, “Do some of these players sometimes not realize that you guys are as good as you are?”
“They do. And once they’re down 10-0 in the 3rd or 4th inning they’re like, ‘oh, we got to pick it up now.’ and we always tell them, ‘don’t pity us, play us straight up. We appreciate you playing us straight up vs. letting that one fall or letting that one go. I mean, come on now,” replied Reynolds.
You can catch The Wounded Warriors Amputee softball team again on Saturday morning. They have games at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Cranston Stadium.
Note: On June 22nd ABC6 New Anchor Christina Myers will have more from Army Veteran Greg Reynolds about his service and the injury that led him to this team that changed his life.
