Wrong way driver held on $100,000 Bail

In an rare occurrence, TV cameras were allowed into the ACI for the bail hearing of 24 year old Joel Norman, the man who police say was driving under the influence the wrong way down route 6 in Providence crashing into a couple head on on Easter morning.

Tears rolled down the cheek of 24 year old Joel Norman as the judge reads the charges against him. Norman, from Webster, MA is charged with DUI death resulting.

They say he caused the crash which killed Tiffany Sical and Bryan Rodriguez, a young couple who leaves behind a five year old daughter.

The bail set at $100,000 dollars with surety, the hearing at the ACI because Norman is in a wheelchair due to injuries he sustained in the crash.

The victims’ family was at the court house trying to make sense of it all.

“Drunk driving needs to stop and I would never ever want anyone to go through something like this,” Genesis Contreras), a cousin of Sical said.

Attorneys say Norman just flew back to Boston after this appearance on the home shopping network, selling speakers for Bose. Norman will be allowed to return to his parents home in Webster if he makes bail.

Family members have started a Gofund me account for the couples daughter, who will now grow up without her parents.

  “I am just trying to raise some money for her so that when she gets older she can get a better start to her life,” David Barrington said.
