PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — after being sentenced to 2.5 years in prison with 15 months to serve  for encouraging her boyfriend Conrad Roy to commit suicide, Michelle Carter is facing more legal trouble.

Roy’s mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Carter, seeking $4.2 million dollars in lost future wages.

Lynn Roy filed the suit last month in Norfolk Superior Court on behalf of her son’s estate.

In it she cites the captain’s license her son got shortly before his suicide, as evidence of his earning potential.

Attorney Eric Goldman, one of the lawyers representing Lynn Roy in the suit said the goal is to establish a memorial for Conrad, not profit financially.
