Yarmouth man arrested for drug possession

YARMOUTH, MA (WLNE)- A South Yarmouth man was arrested for drug possession after being pulled over by police for traffic violations Friday night.

Dustin Monick, 22, was involved in a short pursuit with police after fleeing when an officer pulled him over for traffic violations.

During the pursuit, Monick threw a backpack out of his car that was later found containing over 600 grams of fentanyl, over $3,000 in cash and other assorted illegal substances.

 

 Information developed after the arrest that led to a follow-up investigation.

Police obtained a warrant after receiving information in a follow- up investigation for a storage container that resulted in a seizure of over 3 kilos of fentanyl and over $100,000 in cash.

The charges against Monick include:

Trafficking Fentanyl in excess of 200 grams

Possession of Class A substance with intent to distribute

Possession of Class B substance with intent to distribute

Failure to stop for Police

Speeding

Failure to Stop at a Red Light  

Monick was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday morning and is being held on $250,000 bail.

The incident remains open and under investigation.
