Yarmouth responders rescue person trapped in sinking car

YARMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — First responders from Yarmouth, Massachusetts made a daring rescue effort to save someone trapped in a submerged car.
On Monday, fire officials said they received a call reporting a car that had driven into the water at the end of Bayview Street in West Yarmouth.
While responders were on their way to the scene, they said they learned that there was possibly a person still stuck inside the submerged car.
Despite their efforts, ground rescue crews were unable to reach the sinking car. The Barnstable County Dive Team and Yarmouth Department of Natural Resources were both deployed to the scene for assistance.
When crews arrived, they said they were able to rescue the victim from the car and take them to an awaiting ambulance. Their condition was not immediately released.
Officials said that fast moving currents and bad visibility made the rescue and vehicle recovery challenging and time consuming. No first responders were injured during the efforts.
