Young boy seriously injured after struck by car in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — An 7-year-old boy was transported via med-flight to Hasbro Children’s Hospital after being hit by a car Friday afternoon.

According to the Newport Fire Department, officers responded to the area of 244 Hillside Ave around 3:01 p.m., for the report of a bicyclist struck by a car.

The young victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

It was previously reported that the victim was 8-years-old, but it has been confirmed  that the boy’s actual age is 7.

Newport Police are investigating the cause of the accident at this time.
