3 men rescued after boat flips over in water near India Point Park
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Three men were rescued after their boat flipped over in the water between Providence and East Providence overnight.
Police responded just before 2 a.m. Friday to the Seekonk River near India Point Park.
East Providence police told ABC 6 News that a man swam over to a floating dock and also added he was heard crying for help. Police said the dock was about 50 yards off the shore.
The other two men were found making their way to shore further down, near the Providence Community Boating Center.
The men in their late 40s were all wearing life jackets, according to police. No one was injured.
While this situation ended safely, there have been a growing number of water rescues and drownings in Southern New England this year, including a fatal drowning in Pawtucket, as well as another in Lincoln just last weekend.
