Newport firefighter accused of drunk driving, killing teen no longer employed by city

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport firefighter who was involved in DUI crash that took the life of one teenager and injured another is no longer employed by the city.

Alexander Krajewski was accused of driving under the influence and crashing into Matthew Dennison and Kevin MacDonald in February. Dennison died from his injuries the following month.

Krajewski, 30, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs resulting in death, driving so as to endanger death resulting, driving under the influence of liquor or drugs resulting in serious bodily injury, and driving so as to endanger personal injury resulting.

ABC 6 News reached out to the city of Newport inquiring about Karjewski’s employment and was told that as of March 16, he was no longer working for the Newport Fire Department.

Krajewski is due back in court on June 14.
