25 Forever: Colby Cave’s Number Retired By Providence Bruins

The Providence Bruins retired Colby Cave’s number 25 Saturday. It’s the first number to be raised to the rafters in the history of the P-Bruins.

Cave died after suffering a brain bleed in 2020. He was playing for the Edmonton Oilers at that time.

Emily Cave, Colby’s widow, was on the ice for the pregame ceremony.

The ceremonial puck was dropped between Providence captain Josiah Didier and Cave’s former roommate Austin Czarnik, who now plays for the Bridgeport Islanders.

Providence forward Cam Hughes won the second annual Colby Cave award, given to the Bruins player who is the most dedicated to community and charity work.
