2 Brown University students pelted with paintballs by unknown driver
As of Tuesday night, no suspect has been arrested.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police say two Brown University students were pelted with paintballs by a driver late Monday night.
The victims, identified as 19-year-old man and woman, told police they were walking in the area of Brook and Cushing Streets just after 11 p.m. when a dark colored sedan pulled up next to them and rapidly fired paintballs.
The car then fled then scene.
Both victims were struck in their arms and shoulders but refused medical attention.
“It’s scary, I won’t lie. It could have been real guns,” Brown University student Nishent Bakhru tells ABC6.
Christopher Vanderpool says it’s concerning because the city has seen similar attacks like this not too long ago.
“It’s kinda concerning because there isn’t a lot of good campus lighting… I think it’s a fluke incident. I hope it’s not the start of another pattern,” Vanderpool adds.
This incident, coming about one month after four victims were hit in a BB gun shooting spree across Providence. An unidenfitied 18-year-old was eventually arrested and charged.
Providence and Brown University Police say that they will be reviewing camera footage from the surrounding area to get a clear suspect vehicle description.
