Providence man charged nearly 2 years after 2021 double murder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said Tuesday a Providence man was charged nearly two years after a double murder in 2021.
The murder happened two years ago in June on Cheshire Street in Providence.
Attorney General Peter Neronha said Kelvin Maldonado, 30, was charged with two counts of murder and other offenses.
On June 20, 2021, Maldonado allegedly murdered Abdoulaye Dialla, 24, and Abass Mbaye, 29, outside of a Cheshire Street home after a late night party.
Police said a fight broke out prior to the shooting. The two men were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where they died.
Maldonado is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions. He’s due back in court later this month.
