PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — One of three men convicted of a 2019 sexual assault and armed robbery was sentenced to state prison, prosecutors said Monday.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said 28-year-old Diamond Wilson-Wooten was sentenced to 52 years with 32 to serve earlier this month.

In March, Wilson-Wooten pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree robbery, three counts of first degree sexual assault, two counts of using a firearm during crimes of violence, and two counts of conspiracy.

Prosecutors said Wilson-Wooten was driving on Manton Avenue with DeWaun Smith and Hector Cintron at about 4 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2019.

Authorities said Wilson-Wooten cut off another car, occupied by two women.

He and Smith then got out and ordered the women out of their car at gunpoint. They stole an Apple watch, jewelry, and cash from them before driving away.

Shortly after, they crossed paths again. Prosecutors said Smith got out, armed again, and jumped into the backseat of the women’s car, forcing them to follow Wilson-Wooten.

Prosecutors said the men then sexually assaulted the women at gunpoint off of Manton Avenue.

Last September, Cintron was convicted and sentenced to 37 years with 17 to serve, along with a 20-year suspended sentence with 37 years of probation.

Smith is awaiting sentencing after entering a pea of nolo contendere in March.
