Arrest made in Myles Standish Forest homicide
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a New Bedford man that occurred last month.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said that state and New Bedford police arrested John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo for the shooting death of Robert Aponte-Flores.
On July 12, police responded to Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth around 2:30 p.m. for a shooting.
Police found 25-year-old Aponte-Flores suffering from gunshot wounds. He later later died in the hospital from his wounds.
Cruz said that an investigation indicated that the shooting happened after an apparent altercation between the victim and 20-year-old Macedo.
He was arrested without incident at his New Bedford apartment around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Macedo is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
