Cranston man accused of kidnapping held without bail

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston man who is accused of a 2021 kidnapping was held without bail on Wednesday.

Chandler Cardente, 29, was also ordered not to contact the victim in the case at Providence Superior Court.

He was also listed as a habitual offender.

Cardente is facing six counts of first degree child molestation, one count of enticement of children, and one count of contributing to delinquency of a minor.

He is accused of luring a 12-year-old middle school student into his car in Burrillville in December 2021 and later kicking her out of the car when he learned police were after him.

He was taken to the ACI for violating his parole from a previous offense and court documents show he spoke with an undercover detective on the phone, saying the girl “needs to end up dead.”

Cardente is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Oct. 23.
