22-year-old arrested in New Bedford after police raid him for 3rd time this year

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said a man is facing charges after being raided by police for the third time this year.

According to police, 22-year-old Manny Molina is charged with trafficking fentanyl out of an apartment on Coffin Street.

Authorities said on September 4, at around 11 a.m., detectives raided Molina’s apartment when they noticed him jumping from a window. He was later stopped and secured by detectives who were watching the perimeter of the home.

Detectives said they found a baby formula container in the apartment that contained over 112 grams of fentanyl and a cutting agent, along with two cellphones, cut-corner baggies and a digital scale.

Molina was previously arrested in December last year for trafficking over 190 grams of fentanyl following a raid on Phillips Avenue, officials said.

He was also arrested back in March of this year after another raid on South Second Street. Officials said Molina was also on a GPS anklet monitor and under home confinement at the time of his arrest on Sept. 4.

“It frustrates me to see how much of our limited resources we continue to spend on the same individuals time and time again. Here is a person who has been raided by our narcotics detectives three times in less than the span of one year.  When those who deal in illicit poison are not held in the jails that we put them in, it not only compromises public safety but also diminishes the motivation of our law enforcement officers who should ideally be inspired to serve,” explained New Bedford Police Chief Paul Oliveira.
