911 calls outline death of Patriots season ticket holder
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — 911 calls obtained by ABC 6 News outline the emergency response after an alleged altercation at Gillette Stadium Sunday led to the death of a New England Patriots season ticket holder.
Dale Mooney from New Hampshire died Sunday night after an incident occurred in the 300 section of the stadium during the Patriots game.
Lisa Mooney, Dale’s wife, claims her husband was taunted by Miami Dolphins fans, leading to a fight where a Dolphins fan punched him in the head three times.
Massachusetts State Police said Monday that Dale “suffered an apparent medical event.” Mooney told WCVB-TV that to her knowledge, her husband didn’t have any known medical condition.
“300 level, guy not breathing,” said one 911 caller Sunday night.
Joey Kilmartin was in the 300 section, and told an ABC affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire, that he heard the two groups trading comments throughout the night.
He told WMUR-TV Monday, “I just saw a guy in a Dolphins jersey come over and deliver two punches. At that point, we let go of the guy and he unfortunately never woke up.”
Gillette Stadium released a statement Tuesday reading: “We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic passing of Dale Mooney, a lifelong Patriots fans and 30-year season ticket member, who died while attending last Sunday night’s Patriots game. We continue to work with local authorities to assist them with their ongoing investigation. We extend our sincerest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Dale’s family and to all those who are mourning his loss.”
The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office is awaiting an autopsy report, and said they are continuing their investigation.
No charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
