Fairhaven hotel to shelter unhoused families

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) –The Town of Fairhaven said that it was notified by the State of Massachusetts that unsheltered families would be placed at the Seaport Resort and Marina.
The town’s select board said that 15 rooms in the hotel will be used, and that it is “working with staff and local agencies to manage the impact to our community.”
Gov. Maura Healey declared a state of emergency last month due to the state’s migrant and housing crises.
“We will do what is needed to assist the state and Gov. Healey manage this situation,” the select board added. “We will provide more information as it is available.”
A hotel in Middleborough is also being used to house migrant families as part of the crisis.
