PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Lifespan will announce a new campaign Thursday to raise awareness around workplace violence that healthcare workers face.

The goal of the campaign is to inform the public of how to create and maintain a safe environment for healthcare workers to treat their patients.

Healthcare professionals will launch the campaign at 10:30 a.m. at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The initiative came after a nurse was attacked at Rhode Island Hospital last month.

George Bower, 37, was charged with felony assault on a health care provider and felony assault and battery.

He has a court hearing set for Friday.
