Man charged in ex-girlfriend’s killing at Fall River car wash to have court hearing

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend at a car wash in Fall River has a pretrial hearing Tuesday.
Angelo Leo, 33, will appear back in Fall River Superior Court.
Leo was indicted on charges of murder, carrying an illegal firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, and two counts of violating an abuse prevention order.
He is accused of assaulting, stabbing, and fatally shooting 45-year-old Jessenia Simmons at the Globe Car Wash in broad daylight on May 29.
Leo is further accused of running over her body as he fled the scene. He turned himself in to police in Tiverton shortly after.
Prosecutors said in court the next day that Simmons was his ex-girlfriend, and that she had a restraining order against him.
They said Leo had called her over 100 times and sent her threatening messages before the alleged attack.
