URI’s Cam Estevez Named Atlantic Ten Rookie of the Week

Rhode Island guard Cam Estevez was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

In URI’s lone game of the week, Estevez scored a career-high 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. He was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Estevez led the team in scoring and had two rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot.

In his first season, Estevez has appeared in 10 games for the Rams. The Harlem, N.Y. native is averaging 6.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game thus far.

Rhode Island is back in action Thursday when it hosts New Hampshire at 6 p.m. The game is part of a day-night doubleheader with the women’s team, which tips off at 11 a.m. against Le Moyne.
