Tracking Covid, Flu and RSV
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — With more people gathering indoors, cases of COVID, flu and RSV are on the rise in the Bay State. According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Covid-19 cases have been steadily rising since late August. In the latest reported data set that was released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, 15.7 percent of emergency department visits were due to acute respiratory disease.
Tracking flu numbers, the current estimated severity of influenza transmission is at moderate. To date this season, twenty-three deaths have been reported due to influenza. And the department reports the Most common influenza strain this week is Type A, unsubtyped. A link to flu activity can be found here.
The Rhode Island Department of Health is reporting Covid-19 hospital admission has been on the rise after the summer, however, the data reveals the number of hospital admission level for Covid-19 cases is low at this time. The Department of Health is also reporting eight Covid deaths in the month of December compared to 19 in November. A breakdown of Covid cases and deaths in Rhode Island can be found here.
