DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office said that several inmates have been charged in an April 2023 “inmate uprising.”

Hector Abreau Garcia, Aaron Gagnon, Shane Burnett, Norman Dias, and Jason Frasca were charged with destroying the office’s property during the standoff in the jail’s housing unit.

Sheriff Paul Heroux said that his office will also release footage showing the five inmates’ actions during the incident after it is shown to a jury.

He added that between 15 and 20 inmates were involved in the incident, but only the ones that the office thought could be convicted were charged.

On April 21, 2023 about 120 inmates at the House of Corrections allegedly caused over $100,000 worth of damage to the jail — breaking and covering windows in the jail, spraying a fire extinguisher, and even throwing a phone out of a window.
