PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Providence announced its partnership with Vision Government Solutions Inc. to complete the state-mandated revaluation program.

The reassessment project occurs every three years throughout the state, per state law.

It includes an exterior analysis and inspection of properties to establish a current market value.

This ensures the Tax Assessor’s Office that property value information is updated and correct.

The reassessment will establish the market value of properties as of Dec. 31, 2024, and will reflect in tax bills issued in the summer of 2025.

“The statistical revaluation process is critical for ensuring that all properties continue to be properly and fairly assessed,” said Tax Assessor Janesse Muscatelli.

Muscatelli added, “Regularly assessing properties within the city ensures that property taxes are collected equitably, verifies that each property owner is not over or under paying their fair share, and ensures the city continues to collect the necessary funding to provide the high-quality services our neighbors and local businesses all deserve.”

Data collectors will visit specific properties to record building measurements and conduct interior inspections if deemed necessary.

The collectors will carry photo IDs and will arrive in a car registered with the Providence Police Department.

Property owners who have questions about the revaluation process can contact the Assessor’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at (401) 680-5229 or email the office at assessors@providenceri.gov.
