Former Woonsocket gym teacher convicted of child molestation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Warwick man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a female victim under the age of 14 in 2023, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office.

Steven Porricelli, 53, was convicted on two counts of second-degree child molestation on October 23 following a three-day trial in Kent County Superior Court.

Porricelli assaulted the victim, who was known to him, on May 19, 2023 at a home in Warwick.

He is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) and will face a judge for a sentencing hearing on January 24, 2025.
