Patriots fire head coach Jerod Mayo after one season, 4-13 record

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The New England Patriots have fired Head Coach Jerod Mayo after their 23-16 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

In a statement from team Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft posted on social media, the decision “was one of the hardest [Kraft] had ever made.”

“When he joined our coaching staff, his leadership was even more evident,” Kraft said. “Unfortunately, the trajectory of our team’s performances throughout the season did not ascend as I had hoped.”

He also wished Mayo success the future.

Mayo was hired as head coach in January 2024 after Bill Belichick parted with the team after 24 years.
