Providence Doesn’t Make Initial NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament Bracket, Friars are First COVID Replacement

The Providence College men’s hockey team did not hear its name called during the NCAA men’s hockey tournament selection show.

The Friars haven’t been completely eliminated yet, however. PC is the first “COVID replacement team.”

If any of the 16 teams that did make it has to remove itself from competition at any point between Sunday night and Monday at 7:30pm, Providence will replace it.

After 7:30pm Monday, if a team has to be removed from the tournament because of the coronavirus, its game will be ruled “no contest”, and its opponent will advance.
