Friars Fall to Seton Hall
The Providence College women’s basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 59-38, on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Providence dropped to 11-17 on the season (4-11 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 18-7 (10-4 BIG EAST).
1ST QUARTER:
• Seton Hall led 16-5 after one quarter of play.
• The Friars did not score in the final 7:20 of the frame. Seton Hall ended the quarter with nine-unanswered points.
2ND QUARTER:
• Marta Morales Romero halted a nine-minute scoring drought with a pair of free throws at the 7:34 mark of the second to make it a 20-7 game.
• On the Friars’ next offensive possession, Brynn Farrell hit a three from the wing, marking the team’s first field goal in a span of 12 minutes.
• Farrell’s bucket made it a 10-point game, but Seton Hall responded with a 10-3 run to extend the lead to 30-13 with 1:34 on the clock.
• Seton Hall took a 32-18 lead into halftime.
3RD QUARTER:
• Providence’s offensive struggles continued in the third, shooting 1-11 from the field.
• Seton Hall outscored Providence 16-9 in the quarter overall to take claim a 48-27 lead at the intermission.
• The Friars scored seven of their nine points at the free throw line (7-10).
4TH QUARTER:
• The two teams played an even fourth quarter on the scoreboard, with each team tallying 11 points.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Farrell paced the Friars’ offense with 10 points.
• Olivia Olsen finished with nine points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
• Friar Legends Forever Jersey Retirement Weekend culminated in the unveiling of banners for former Friar great Britt King ’86 and former Friar Head Coach, the late Bob Foley. Former Providence men’s basketball player Billy Donovan ’87 was also honored over the weekend.

• Providence will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to face Marquette in BIG EAST action on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
