PC Lands Commitment From Forward Duncan Powell Monday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men’s basketball announced today (April 21) that redshirt junior Duncan Powell (Dallas, Texas) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2025-26.

Powell, a 6-8, 235-pound forward played for Georgia Tech in 2024-25.  He averaged 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 33 games.  He shot 44.1 percent from the field, including 35.8 percent (53-148) from three-point territory.  For his efforts, he was named the ACC’s top Sixth Man by Hoops HD.  Powell started all of the team’s final 11 games and averaged 15.9 points in those contests.  Powell was named to the 2025 ACC All-Tournament Second Team after recording 45 points (21 versus Virginia and 24 versus Duke) in two games.  He scored 20 or more points seven times in 2024-25, including a career-high 26 points at Pittsburgh on 6-10 shooting from three on February 25, 2025.  Powell also added three double-doubles for Georgia Tech.

Prior to playing at Georgia Tech, Powell spent the 2023-24 season at Sacramento State.  In 29 games, he averaged 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds.   Powell registered five double-doubles and scored 15 or more points 10 times at Sacramento State.  His average of 2.8 offensive rebounds per game ranked second in the Big Sky Conference.

Powell began his career at North Carolina A&T where he used his freshman season as a red shirt year in 2021-22.  In his second season at North Carolina A&T, he played 30 games.  He was named to the 2022-23 CAA All-Rookie Team after he averaged 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds and shot 42 percent from the field.  Powell registered a season-high 20 points versus nationally ranked College of Charleston on January 4, 2023.

Powell played his high school basketball at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas.  He averaged 21.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists in his junior season at DeSoto.  He was sidelined for his senior season due to an injury.  Powell was ranked No. 84 overall in the 2021 class, according to ESPN.com.
