Brandin Cooks Set To Face Former Team In New Orleans

Brandin Cooks is coming home.

…well, sort of. The Patriots wide receiver is from California.

He’s just matching up with his former team, the New Orleans Saints, this week.

The Patriots sent a first round pick to the Saints to acquire the versatile wide out.

COoks had three catches in the season opener, and his speed caused a few big pass interference penalties.

He’s heading back to the Superdome for the first time as a visitor in his four year career.

"I’m just treating it like another away game, honestly," Cooks said.

"I don’t get caught up into everything else. I feel like once you do that, you don’t play the way you’re supposed to play. We’re going down there to play football on an away trip. That’s our thought process."

Cooks has already drawn praise from his fellow receivers.

"Brandin does a great job. He can stretch the field vertically," Chris Hogan said.

"He’s got good speed. He competes. He’s a good teammate so you can trust him out there."

Cooks and Hogan may be two of only three wide receivers playing for the Patriots Sunday. Danny Amendola and Matthew Slater did not practice Thursday, along with linebacker Dont’a Hightower.
