PC Men’s Hockey Unveils 2021-2022 Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s hockey program unveiled its 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday (Aug. 10). The schedule consists of 36 regular season contests, including a potential 12 games against teams that appeared in last season’s NCAA tournament.

The Friars, coming off an abbreviated 11-9-5 campaign in 2020-21, kick off the 2021-22 season at home on October 2 against Army West Point, followed up by the Hockey East opener at home against Merrimack on Thursday, October 7. Providence will visit AIC on Saturday, October 9 in the first of two meetings of the season, with the other matchup taking place at Schneider Arena on Friday, November 12. The Friars will appear in the 2021 Ice Breaker in Duluth, Minnesota from October 15-16 where they will open up against Minnesota State and face-off against either Michigan or host Minnesota Duluth the following day. Denver comes to town for a single game on Friday, October 22 before the Friars close out the month with three-consecutive games against New Hampshire on October 24 and October 29-30.

Providence battles reigning national champion UMass in a home and home series on November 5-6 and welcomes UConn for a single game on November 13. A road trip to Vermont on November 19-20 precedes Thanksgiving weekend clashes against ECAC teams Dartmouth (Nov. 26) and Brown (Nov. 27). The Friars wrap up the first half of the season with a home-and-home series against Northeastern (Dec. 3-4) and a two-game home series versus Princeton (Dec. 10-11).

The second half begins with the inaugural Holiday Faceoff in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 28-29. The Friars will open with Bowling Green before matching up with either Wisconsin or Yale the following day. After an idle weekend, Providence returns to action in home-and-home series against Merrimack (Jan. 14-15) and Boston College (Jan. 21-22). January finishes with a pair of road games at UMass (Jan. 28) and at Boston University (Jan. 30).

February begins with a road game at UConn (Feb. 4) and home contest against Vermont (Feb. 5). The following weekend, the Friars will host Boston University on Friday, February 11. The regular season slate concludes with a home-and-home series against UMass Lowell (Feb. 18-19) and a pair of home games against Maine (Feb. 25-26). Providence will host the US. NTDP Under-18 team for an exhibition game on Friday, March 4.

The single elimination Hockey East Tournament begins in the opening round on Wednesday, March 9, followed by quarterfinal matchups on Saturday, March 12. The Hockey East Semifinals and Championship Game will return to TD Garden in Boston on March 18-19.
