How it Happened
Bryant scored first on a nine-play 56-yard drive that was capped off by a 2-yard Adeboboye touchdown. Young’s 33-yard return gave the Bulldogs good field position to start. The Black and Gold converted three third downs, including a pass interference in the endzone. Adeboboye had five carries for 23 yards on the drive.
The Bulldogs stopped Marist on 4th and two and then recorded a five-play 59-yard scoring drive. Mukendi got the drive going with a 37-yard rush up the middle. Eckhaus followed that up with a 24-yard pass to Landon Ruggieri. This put Bryant on the two-yard line, which set up Mukendi for the two-yard touchdown run.
The Black and Gold added three more points on a Luke Samperi 41-yard field goal. Bryant started the drive on their own 28-yard line. A 14-yard rush by Shai Young on 2nd and eight got the drive started. That was followed by a 10-yard pass to Jihad Edmond on 4th and three, and a 15 yard QB run by Eckhaus to get the Bulldogs into field goal range.
Marist responded with a 14 play 74-yard drive to put up seven points before the half. Brabham connected with Johnson for an 11-yard touchdown.
The Red Foxes received the ball at the start of the second half and scored a touchdown on a 14-yard pass to Menders. The Bulldogs had a stop on 3rd and nine, but it was negated by a personal foul penalty.
Bryant responded with a 10 play 57-yard touchdown drive of their own. Eckhaus got a 14-yard gain on 3rd and seven to keep the drive moving. Three plays later the Black and Gold converted on 4th and two with a 10-yard pass to Frederick. Frederick then completed the drive with a 12-yard touchdown catch in the right corner of the endzone.
Before the end of the third quarter, Marist was driving. The Red Foxes made it to the Bryant 14-yard line before Otis Jackson III and Jayvis Rayside came up with pass deflections to force the Marist field goal.
The Black and Gold scored their final touchdown of the game on a 13 play 68-yard drive. Eckhaus went 6-for-6 marching the Bulldogs down the field. The drive was capped off by an 18-yard dime to Frederick for his second score of the game.
Late in the fourth quarter, Colin Elliott intercepted the football and gave the Bulldogs good field position on the Marist side of the field. A false start penalty pushed the Bulldogs back and forced them into a 33-yard field goal, which Samperi converted. This was the final score of the game.
