Lanes close on Pell Bridge in preparation for switch to electronic tolling

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) – The open-road tolling lanes on the Pell Bridge will close later this month as the bridge begins transitioning to all-electric tolling.
The City announced Monday the lanes will be closed from Oct. 14 through 28.
The open-road lanes are the free flow traffic lanes with the overhead gantry.
All traffic will be directed through the gated lanes.
The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority announced last month that all of the tolls on the Pell Bridge will switch to fully electronic tolling by the end of October.
