East Providence Mayor allows businesses to refuse entry to customers not wearing masks

Raimondo Orders All Employees At Customer Facing Businesses To Wear Cloth Face Covers

Mayor Bob DaSilva announced he will be signing an executive order, requiring all customers within a business or non-profit organization in the City of East Providence to wear a mask.

“If an individual is in violation of this order, the business or non-profit organization shall have the right to refuse service and or entry to the individual and the individual is subject to fines,” DaSilva said.

This is in addition to Governor Raimondo’s executive order,  which requires all employees of customer-facing businesses, office-based businesses, manufacturers and nonprofits to wear cloth face coverings when they are at work starting April 18th. The order also told businesses to encourage their customers and post reminders, but Raimondo said businesses should not turn customers away if they don’t wear a mask.
